Theatre & newborn emergency drills run across all shifts
Multi-disciplinary simulation drills for obstetric emergencies and newborn resuscitation are now scheduled monthly across day, evening and night shifts.
Every shift at Pumwani must be ready for the unexpected. The drills rehearse theatre emergencies, postpartum haemorrhage response and newborn resuscitation with the same teams who provide care on the wards.
Why drills matter
- Faster, calmer response when minutes matter
- Clearer teamwork between midwives, theatre and neonatal staff
- Continuous learning for every shift, not only day staff
The programme complements our ward-by-ward quality audits and forms part of the hospital’s patient-safety calendar.
