Privacy Notice
How we handle your personal information under the Data Protection Act, 2019 — in plain language.
We ask for the minimum, and we protect it
Last updated: 6 October 2026. Pumwani Maternity, Child & Referral Hospital is the data controller for information collected through this website.
What we collect online
Our forms collect only what we need to respond to you: your name, phone number, email address (where given), the subject and content of your message, and — for a call-back request — a convenient time and the general topic of your question. We never ask for clinical or medical information through this website — clinical care happens in person, in the consulting room.
Why we use it
To call you back about a question or call-back request, respond to feedback, complaints or compliments, route your message to the responsible officer, and meet our duties as a public health facility under Nairobi City County. We do not sell your information and we do not use it for marketing without your separate consent.
Cookies, storage and analytics
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. It stores a few preferences in your own browser (your language choice and copies of requests you submit) so the site works for you — this data never leaves your device. Optional, privacy-friendly usage analytics may be enabled to count visits and page views; they record no personal details.
Who can see it
Only the staff responsible for responding to you — reception, the visit desk, the relevant officer for a complaint, or our IT support acting on our instructions. We share information with others only where the law requires it. Every request you send is stored in our systems with a reference you can quote.
How long we keep it
Enquiries and call-back requests are kept only as long as needed to handle them and meet record-keeping duties, then securely deleted or archived under county retention rules. Feedback and complaint records are retained for the periods required for audit and follow-up.
Your rights
Under the Data Protection Act, 2019 you may ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, correct anything that is wrong, ask us to delete it where we have no duty to keep it, object to how it is used, or withdraw a consent you previously gave. We respond to valid requests within the periods set by the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.
Children's information
Information about newborns and minors is handled with the same care inside the hospital. This website does not knowingly collect personal information from children; parents and guardians should use the forms for enquiries about their dependants.
