A century of service — and a promise for the next one
Pumwani Maternity, Child & Referral Hospital has cared for the mothers of Kenya since 1926. What began as a small charitable home is today the largest maternity hospital in Kenya and Sub-Saharan Africa, and a Level 4 referral facility for the region. That history belongs to the families who have trusted us with the most important moment of their lives.
Our commitment is simple: safe, respectful, affordable maternity care available every hour of every day. We measure ourselves not only by clinical outcomes, but by whether every mother is treated with dignity, kept informed, and supported by a companion of her choice. Our teams are organised to make that possible — from the labour ward and theatres to the newborn unit, laboratory and the clinics that follow families through pregnancy and beyond.
We are also an open institution. If a service falls short, we want to hear it through our feedback channel; every concern is recorded and answered. And we will never ask for a fee to access services or to compete for jobs and tenders. Karibu — you are welcome here.
