Maternity Packages

What each care pathway includes at Pumwani — from your first antenatal visit to postnatal discharge.

Transparent Care

One discharge plan, built around you

Our packages describe the care you receive at each stage. Current charges are confirmed at the official billing office — and requesting care is always free.

Free and subsidised services: maternity care is free or heavily subsidised under government programmes and the Social Health Authority (SHA). Nobody is turned away from emergency care for inability to pay. See the fee & SHA guide (PDF).

Normal Delivery Package

  • Antenatal clinics through pregnancy, with routine tests and supplements
  • Admission in labour and 24-hour midwifery care in the delivery suite
  • Normal vaginal delivery with a trained birth companion welcome
  • Immediate newborn care, first vaccines and breastfeeding start-up
  • Postnatal ward stay with mother and baby together
  • Discharge review, family planning counselling and follow-up dates

Charges for consumables or private preferences are confirmed at the billing office before admission.

Caesarean Section Package

  • Everything in the normal delivery pathway where applicable
  • Theatre, anaesthesia and surgical team for planned or emergency caesarean
  • Recovery and post-operative monitoring on the ward or HDU
  • Newborn examination, warmth and feeding support after surgery
  • Wound care, pain management and early mobilisation review
  • Discharge planning with danger-sign education for home

Emergency caesarean is never delayed for payment — the billing office follows up after stabilisation.

Antenatal Care Package

  • First visit before 12 weeks with the full first-visit assessment
  • Scheduled ANC visits with midwife and doctor reviews
  • Routine screening: blood group, haemoglobin, urinalysis, HIV and syphilis tests
  • Iron and folate supplementation with adherence support
  • Obstetric ultrasound where clinically indicated
  • Birth-preparedness and nutrition education for mother and family

Extra tests or specialist reviews needed during pregnancy are billed as they arise, always discussed first.
